Introducing the nf-core newsletter
The nf-core community moves fast. In a normal month there are a handful of pipelines with new releases, one or two typically have their very first release, there are new blog posts, bytesize talks, training events, hackathons and all sorts. If you don’t follow Slack and the website every day, it’s easy to lose track of all of it.
To try to help with this, we built a newsletter. Once a month it gathers up what happened across nf-core onto a single page, and then emails that to you. You can sign up below:
We’ll also publish the newsletter on LinkedIn, and via an RSS feed.
The whole thing is rendered on the website, so you can read the latest edition and browse previous months at nf-co.re/newsletter.
What’s in an edition
Each month the newsletter pulls together:
- New blog posts
- Security advisories
- Pipeline releases (with brand-new pipelines’ first releases highlighted)
- Upcoming bytesize talks, trainings, and hackathons
- Newly minted pipeline repos, plus pipeline and RFC proposals from nf-core/proposals
There’s also an “in case you missed it” section that shows blog posts and other things from the past couple of months, in case something slipped past you the first time.
Get it by email
The emails go out on the first Wednesday of every month. Once you sign up you’ll need to confirm your email.
We store your email address and the date you subscribed.
Emails are sent using Amazon SES (Simple Email Service), which runs in the EU (eu-west-1).
Every email carries an in-body unsubscribe link and the standard List-Unsubscribe headers, so Gmail, Apple Mail and similar clients show their own one-click unsubscribe button next to the sender.

We know that people’s inboxes are already full, so if you prefer you can also get the newsletter on LinkedIn.
We’ll do our best to publish it there each month (it’s impossible to automate, so some clicking is required), but it’ll be the same content in both places.
Read it on the website
The newsletter is built using the website, you can view every month going back to the start of nf-core via the Newsletter link under “Community” in the navbar.
Each month has a few buttons at the top with the newsletter in different formats:
- An RSS feed you can follow in a reader
- Markdown, suitable for LLMs or reading in other clients
- The email-friendly HTML version
- A plain HTML version which we use to copy the newsletter into LinkedIn
